Editing dates
Every file system object has four dates associated with it: creation, modified, access, and backup. To set any of these dates using the Info window, click the pop-up menu corresponding to the date you wish to change and choose from the available options.
Current Date and Time
Set the date to the current date and time, which can be useful for getting Finder and some other applications to recognize that something about the item has changed. Available for all dates.
Modified Date
Set the date to the current last modified date. Available for Created, Accessed, and Backup dates only.
Creation Date
Set the last modified date to the creation date. Available for Modified dates only.
No Date
Set the date to the value corresponding to no date. Available for Accessed and Backup dates only.
Set…
Use this option to set the date manually to any date you wish. Available for all dates.
Adjust…
Add or subtract a specific amount of time from the date, which is useful when files have been created with an incorrect date. Available for Created and Modified dates only.
Copying dates from another item
To copy a date from another item to the current item in the Info window, drag the item with the desired date from the Finder to one of the pop-up menus to copy the corresponding date from the dragged item.
File Buddy can modify the creation date of a volume, but this is strongly discouraged.
